Tower of Rock

I was exploring an area of rock formations across from the Boy Scout Trail the other morning and saw this towering formation in the early morning light. I never get tired of being amongst the rocks, they are an unlimited source of fascination for me.

Morning Light

I was ambling around in the area across from the Boy Scout Trail looking for pictures, when I turned around an saw the early morning light shining on this group of rocks. Like a Temple of Light.

A Nice Silhouette and Some Great Clouds

It's always fun to get up with the sun and go in to the park. I like to pick a single area with rock formations to wander about and explore. As I slowly move about, in and out of the rocks, I follow the light as it continually changes. I was photographing some other rocks and then turned around and saw this dramatic shot. What a treat.

Spectacular Clouds at the Cholla Garden

The other day we had some wonderful Thunderstorms which brought much needed rain to the area and the Park. We decided to take a drive down to the Cholla Garden to see what was what and got this nice shot.

The Lost Horse Mine Loop Trail a Great Hike

There's lots to see and do on this hike. Instead of going from the parking lot straight up to the mine, we went the long way around. It starts out with a nice, lush valley full of vegetation, then heads up over rocky ground to an overlook of the Pinto Basin and down the other side to the mine area. Unfortunately, the mine area had a burn a couple of years back, so it looks more like a WWI battleground. Probably the best hike for now, would be the long way until you get to the top and then turn around and come back the same way, beautiful views the whole way.
