We heard from our friends that the flowers were starting to show down near Cottonwood, so we piled into the car, took some 'vittles', a nice Rose and headed off to see what all the fuss was about. We went all the way down to the 10 and wandered around in the fields off the side of the road. We saw inky-purple Chia, bright yellow Poppies and lots of deep red Chuparosa. Then we headed back up, parked by the side of the road and walked up our favorite wash to have lunch. Here we saw fuschia-pink Mimulas, creamy Black Eyed Primrose, and lots of purple-blue Phacelia. Everything is just starting to 'pop' at this point, but there's more to come, so make sure you take the drive down in the next few weeks. It takes about an hour to get there, so plan to spend the afternoon. After lunch in a nice shady spot and a little 'kip', we headed up to the Ocotillo patch and then stopped at the Cholla Garden for a little stroll. All in all, a very nice day and a good start for the flowering. We'll be back.
